Glazing
We offer our customers the most energy-efficient windows possible
At Jewel Windows all of our glazing is A-rated which is the highest rating possible and means our windows are the most energy-efficient you can get. Energy efficient glazing keeps your home warmer and quieter as well as reducing your energy bills.
Our glass is manufactured by Planitherm and is the most energy-efficient glass available which is low emissivity (Low-E) glass. Low-E glass lets in light and heat but reduces the amount of heat that can get out. In between the pains we use argon gas which also adds to making our windows effective. To add even further to the efficiency of our windows we use warm edged spacers. Pane spacers are set around the inside edges to keep the two panes of glass apart. Warm edge spacers provide maximum efficiency, as opposed to those spacers containing metal which allows more heat out and the cold in.
Triple Glazing V’s Double Glazing
Rising energy costs and the need to improve insulation in homes is making triple glazing a compelling option. Additional benefits include reduced noise pollution and enhanced security – triple glazing is the superior choice for glass in your windows.
U-value: this is the rate at which energy is lost through windows. Double glazing windows have a u-value of 1.2, whereas triple glazing has a u-value of 0.8. So what does this mean? By having triple glazing you can save up to 33% of energy that would be lost if you have double glazing. This brings great benefits as not only will your house be warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, but it will also have a significant impact on your energy bills. With triple glazing reducing heat loss from your home by a third it is also good for the environment as well as your pocket!
Noise reduction: a big reason why many people are switching over to triple glazing is because it has a big impact on reducing exterior noise. By upgrading to triple glazing the third pane will significantly block out any unwanted exterior noise. Another great benefit here is that this will add to the value of your home and will provide a far nicer and quieter environment for you and your family.
Although triple glazing is not yet the norm in the UK, it has been used in colder countries for decades and we are now starting to realise the full benefits of it. In fact some people speculate that triple glazing may be the standard by the UK building regulations within the next 5 years on new builds.
